- Water Bottle. As issued to the Ulster Volunteer Force. Circular, metal covered with khaki felt, web carrying strap held by 3 eyes. Marked in black "NY / 50" and on the strap "268". Intially the Ulster Volunteers had little uniform. They paraded in ordinary clothes with the addition of belts and haversacks. By winter of 1913, the volunteers had received a list of equipment that should be purchased that included; water bottles, army boots, rifle slings etc.

National Museums NI holds over a million objects in the collection, as well as this we manage the records and associated images for each object through a working database. The national collection has been almost 200 years in the making, and we recognise that thinking about collecting and collections has evolved over this time and continues to evolve.
