Description
First World War recruitment poster; 'To Irishmen. To you fellow countrymen I appeal for help to raise a brigade to fight on the Western Front.'
Recruitment poster featuring Arthur Lynch and his Irish Brigade. The poster says that ‘rebellion means pro-Germanism’ and warns that ‘Potsdam will take care of Erin’. There is a tendentious statement that ‘Sarsfield and Tone would fight for France.’ Lynch, being someone who fought for the Boers, refers to ‘Botha and Smuts...my old comrades’ who are now leading South Africa on the allied side; framed for display
