Printed chromolithograph poster free with 'United Ireland' Saturday journal. Titled 'Mocking Hunger' featuring John Bull approaching Erin, pictured with two emaciated children, with a note marked 'Compulsory Education,' 'bread v schooling. Signed by J. D. [John Dooley] Reigh, By the early 1880s he was contributing a weekly coloured cartoon for the Saturday edition of 'United Ireland', generally favourable to the paper's founder, C. S. Parnell and the Irish Parliamentary party. His work also appeared in 'The Nation' and 'Shamrock'.
