- Orange sash presented to Brother Kee by his ‘brethren’ in ‘The Rising Sons of India’ lodge, which was formed within 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles. The presentation was made on the regiment’s departure from garrison duty in India in 1908. Sash has a woven rectangle with silver wine border, star 5 pointed, serpent or staff, and ladder. Loyal Orange Lodge 703 ‘The Rising Sons of India’ is not to be confused with Loyal Orange Lodge 703 which sat at Magheraknock Orange Hall, Ballynahinch, Co. Down. The former operated under a military warrant, which was issued by the Grand Lodge of England. In 1909 they were based in Maymyo (now Myanmar) in Burma. When the men from Loyal Orange Lodge 703 ‘The Rising Sons of India’ returned home after the war with the warrant, it could no longer be used by them in Belfast and a new warrant was issued by the Grand Lodge of Ireland. The new warrant issued was No. 1300, and Loyal Orange Lodge 1300 operates in Sandy Row in Belfast.
