Description

James Hope's death mask. James Hope (1765-1831), a Presbyterian weaver from Templepatrick, Co. Antrim, was a notable member of the United Irishmen. Despite being a very active participant in the two Rebellions of 1798 and 1803, he managed to avoid the fate of many of his compatriots. After surviving incognito for some years, he returned to normal life before dying at Mallusk, aged sixty-six.
