2001 - Description
- Short dress, large grafitti print. yellow, black, blue, pink on white, sleeveless with wide straight neck and narrow (2.5cm) shoulder seam so that dress falls to one shoulder when worn. Left side seam zip with silver metal ring pull. All edges and seams top stitched. The fabric is fine satin weave wool, with full 60% acetate 40% bemberg plain weave lining. Front shaping given to vertical top stitched pleat from left front hip at light slant to 17.2 hem. Size 10, 79.2cm shoulder seam to hem. Circular label, woven dark pink on light oink, a horses head 'luella' and 'MADE IN ENGLAND' 4.8cm diameter From exhibition label, early 2000s Graffiti print wool dress, 2001 Louella Bartley This dress was bought as the Ulster Museum's International designer outfit of Summer 2001. It gave us the work of a new and distinctive fashion talent, who used the graffiti prints which were that season's strongest look, in an effective way. The dress looks simple, but is of subtle and interesting cut.
