Paris - Description
- Crepe weave 66% acetate 34% viscose jacket and trousers. The trousers have wide legs with turned up cuff fillness pleated to waistband 3.9 cms deep, c/f zip closure with brilliant cut white paste button. Short jacket has full length set in sleeves, collarless high round neck, nipped in waist, button and loop fastening, five buttons as on trousers. All-over scroll-like embroidery, couched fine gold braid with round and bugle gold beads and scattered white paste stones. Self lined on bodice, padded shoulders. Owned originally by Lauren Bacall. Lot 92 in sale 'Histoire de Mode-Histoire de Coeur' in aid of 'La Fondation pour l'Entance' at the Museede la Mode et du Costume, Palais Galliera Paris on Thursday 19th November 1992 From exhibition label early 2000s Eveing trouser suit of black crepe, with gold and paste embroidery on the bodice Sonia Rykiel (1930-) This elegant outfit was originally owned by Lauren Bacall. Monochrome colours and fluid crepe or jerset fabrics typify Sonial Rykiel's work.
