Description

design : Wedding dress, purple suede. From exhibition label for 'The Fashion Show' exhibition Ulster Museum 2002 Purple suede coat, mid 1970s Jean Muir (1933-1995) Jean Muir was renowned for her perfectly cut jersey and soft suede. Her top stitched, tailored fluid clothes were distinctive, and her non-romantic, professional, approach to dressmaking was much admired. The coat with matching beret was worn as a weddding outfit in Belfast. The purple shade was a very 1970s colour.
