Description

Poster issued by the Northern Ireland Labour Party, printed red and black on white. 'The Unionists endangered our Future by their cuts. We cannot put them out but you can by voting Labour 21st May.' Support for the NILP peaked in the late 1950s and early 1960s when the party held four seats in the Northern Ireland Parliament. By 1965, when they won two seats, the party appeared to be in decline, however, as late as 1970 the NILP still received almost 100,000 votes in the UK General Election of that year.
