Description
On War Service badge with half moon fastening. A crowned oval inscribed "ON WAR SERVICE 1915", inside the oval a shield bearing the arms of the Board of Ordnance, 3 cannon balls over 3 cannons. Worn in buttonhole by Ordnance Workers to prove that they were on War Service at home to avoid confrontation and abuse which was directed at young men for not signing up.
