Description
Cook atlas first volume illustrating the Pacific voyages of Captain Cook (c. 1785). There are two volumes, consisting of maps and engraved illustrations pasted in, cover the three epic voyages of Captain James Cook int he Pacific between 1769 and 1776 in the Endeavour, Resolution and Discovery. The volume covering his first two voyages has Hodge's portrait of Cook engraved by Basire as its frontispiece, along with seventy plates which come from the text volumes of 'A Voyage to the Pacific', Vols I and II, written by Captain J. Cook, Vol. III by Captain J. King (London 1784). These volumes consist of maps and engraved illustrations of landscapes and people.
