Description

Neckrest or pillow cut from solid block of wood with curved legs and bar. The wood is highly polished Pacific Islanders used wooden headrests to protect their hair styles when sleeping and resting. After the death of the owner, they were thought to be a means of contacting the dead person through dreams. 1836
