Scope and content: Richard Chown was a British Rail engineer, renowned for modelling railways in the landscape in 7mm/1ft scale. Perhaps his most recognised model was the Castle Rackrent layout, which was often exhibited. This archive mainly consists of black and white photos and negatives taken by Chown in Ireland during the 1970s, along with historic photographs of locomotives and rolling stock, technical drawings of engines, station houses, carriages, etc., and copies of Down Line, the journal of the Belfast and County Down Railway Museum Trust.
