The Belfast Girl Singers emerged from the Shankill Mission Girls Club in 1948, led by conductor Kay Simpson, Maureen Sands and May Hinds. They went on to perform, record and participate in broadcasts throughout the world, including at the White House and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. They received awards at the Edinburgh Festival and the Festival of Britain held in London in 1951. They performed with James (Jimmy) Young in 'The Young Idea' and on the BBC programme 'Come Dancing.' This archive contains sheet music, a 1948 group photograph, a manuscript music book in an envelope addressed to Kay Simpson, a news clipping on a presentation event for Kay at the Windsor Hotel in Knocknagoney in 1977 and an autograph book with signatures from events recorded in chronological order.
