Scope and content: Letter from Hugh Cleland to John Cleland. Hugh says he took John's letter to M. Houghton who hopes that John will be promoted soon. Hugh says there have been many marriages in Drumaglish recently - James Hutton to Mary Scott, Michael Steed to Sarah McClimond etc. He writes of it being a beautiful season at home, with oats and potatoes selling well. Writes of everyon eback home expecting the king to die any day so that there might be a new election soon. Sent to the HMS St George at the Baltic Sea.
