Scope and content: Letter to John [Cleland]. The letter asks that John write to his mother while he is at sea, and informs him of what has happened at home. Mentions Andrew McRobert travelling to England in April, Doctor Neilson moving to Newton and recieiving a hundred pounds a year from M. Stewart, Doctor Chambers has left the army and is home now to set up in Drumore, Mike Steeds has another son gone to sea, etc. This letter may have been unfinished as there is no conclusion, and also contains a draft of a new letter to John on the third side.
