Scope and content
Letter to John's brother, Hugh. Johns writes of his journey from Hano Bay on 9th November with 130 merchant ships to the island of Falston, where the fleet was forced to anchor due to 'contrary winds' on the 15th. He writes of the winds being so strong that the fleet was unable to detach their anchors, and even had to throw some of their guns overboard to lighten the load of the ships. He says his ship had to be taken in tow by a larger ship and they are now waiting until summer for the weather to calm. Sent from the HMS St George off Wingo Sound to Hugh Cleland at Downpatrick.
