Scope and content: Letter to John's mother. Talks of a W. Anderson being appointed 'surgion' to a frigate, where he would be paid 13 shillings and sixpence a day, but how he now intends to set up a shop in London. Also says A. Hamilton has been appointed as hospital mate. John notes that Hugh [his brother] has improved his writing very much since he went to Downpatrick.
