Letter to John's brother, Hugh. John writes that he is sailing for England and will not arrive until next month or so. He writes that the Swedes have chosen the French General Barnadotte to be their crown prince as long as he will not make war with Britain, that Finland which was taken by the Russians shall be restored and as French troops enter Sweden. He says that the Swedes are happy that they can remain friendly with Britain. John's ship recently had a fine ball which the principal nobility of Sweden attended, though the crew could not speak Swedish nor the nobility English. John also mentions an election in Downpatrick.
