Letter to John's brother, Hugh. John writes that he has arrived safely on 'Britannia's shore after a passage of seventeen days from the island of Hano' where the ship experienced a constant gale of wind. The commander decided to return to Britain as there was no sign of either the Russian or Swedish fleet and winter as setting in. They also arrived in time to celebrate George III's accession to the throne, with all the men of war firing a royal salute of twenty one guns.
