Cleland letter
Scope and content
Letter to John's brother, Hugh. John writes that not much has occured since his last letter. No fighting has taken place against the Swedes - indeed, the Swedes have actually been supplying the British ships with plentiful amounts of food (beef, potatoes, cabbage, onions and other kinds of vegetables). He also mentions how their new captain, Guion, is 'as good a man as ever had the command of a man of war by having divine worship performed twice every Sunday...' Sent from the HMS St. George off ..., to Hugh Cleland at Downpatrick
