Scope and content: Handwritten letters, service record books, and demobilisation ration books, among other items, from Ulster soldiers involved in the Great War of 1914-1918.
Contents include: a folder of handwritten letters sent from France in 1916 by George Burns, a rifleman in the 36th Ulster Division. The letters are headed ‘On Active Service with The British Expeditionary Force’ with ‘On Active Service’ correspondence envelopes. These are addressed to his mother, Mrs Burns and one to Lillie, concerning a missing soldier during the Battle of the Somme. Also contained are a note of allowed absence for Burns, four field service postcards indicating Burns is well and has received parcels and letters from his mother, a letter from Robert concerning George and a letter to Joe Montgomery from Robert;
Officers' record of service and demobilisation book, along with other miscellaneous items belonging to Kenneth Arthur Crawford of the Royal Garrison Artillery Siege Battery Unit, from Rathfern, Whiteabbey;
Photocopies of service records and discharge papers of John Clarke of the Royal Irish Rifles, from Ballymacarrett.
