Brazil

There are over 50 records of objects from Brazil. This collection concerns the Kayapó people (their indigenous name Mẽbêngôkre, means “People of the Water Hole”). Collected in the mid-20th century the collection comprises of objects made and used by the Kayapó people such as bags, beaded and feathered jewellery, woven baskets, traps, animal skins, spears, quivers, bows and arrows.

There are also a number of photographs and slides taken by missionaries which help provide an insight into the work of missionaries and their relationship to the Kayapó people.
