The Harland & Wolff Collection comprises c.75,000 negatives recording the development of the firm from the mid-1890s to the present day, with some earlier exceptions.
It includes hundreds of images produced by R.J. Welch who was the firm's official photographer from c1894-1920.
The collection records in detail all stages of the shipbuilding process, including documentation of the building of such famous vessels as the Oceanic, the Titanic, HMS Belfast, HMS Eagle and the Canberra, as well as portraying shipyard buildings and plant, and working life and people in its many departments and shops.
Prints of the R.J. Welch Harland & Wolff collection can be purchased, both framed and unframed, from our partners, Art UK.
