This archive contains many documents donated by Captain Edward McGee, whose relative was a private in the Royal Navy from Cookstown. He was killed in action in 1918, leaving behind the medals in this archive. The archive contains paintings of John Kelly Ltd. ships by W.A. Hume from the 1980s, including the M.V. Ballykern at sea and the M.V. Ballygarvey passing through Donaghadee Sound. There are paintings by Frank McKelvey, including M.V. Ballyrory passing Alisa Craig and the M.V. Ballyrush, and a card painting of the M.V. Ballykelly leaving West Twin Power Station, Belfast, by Denis J. McDowell. Also contains books on maritime and naval activity, including: The Mariners Highway Code (1977), a first aid book from 1962; three booklets on 'the merchant navy officers pension fund (1978); Reed's Nautical Almanack (1992); Business Notes for Shipmasters (1976); Norie's Nautical Tables (1959): Code of safe working practices for merchant seamen (1981); International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (1972); 1964 Handy Book for Ship-owners and Masters; Steam Coasters and Short Sea Traders (1980); The Mariner's Handbook (1978); Lloyd's Nautical Yearbook (1980); Ship Stability Notes and Examples; Useful Notes for Ships' Officers; International Light, Shape and Sound Signals, The Sailor's Way (1934), Seamanship Notes (1971), Collision Regulations 1977 fully explained. Further contents include a Pilotage Exemption Certificate (PEC) for the Port of Liverpool (1974–87) and a John Kelly Limited calendar for 1915.
