Archive compiled by Louis Gilbert, erstwhile resident of Islandmagee, Co.Antrim. As well as containing typescripts written by Gilbert, including The Old Kirk Manse and extracts from his unpublished novel about Willie John Ashcroft, this collection holds extensive notes, newspaper clippings, photos, programmes and lists about the Alhambra Theatre of Varieties, the Rosemary Lane Playhouse and Belfast theatres of this era. There is correspondence with, among others, Sam McAughtry and a collection of Irish song books. Other subjects include travelling actor-artists such as Sam Tryer, picture houses and cinema, circus and panto and prewar radio in Belfast.
