Since the 1960s, artists have increasingly explored a variety of media as a means of artistic expression. The work in this area of the collection is characterised by the use of non-traditional media, such as photography and ‘found-objects’, and includes time-based practices such as video, audio recording and installation. The ‘New Media’ collection has recently been developed and includes significant acquisitions by Willie Doherty, Matt Collishaw, Bill Fontana, Dan Shipsides, Paul Seawright, Mary McIntyre and Martin Parr.
