Object Name

Shield : battle

Description

Light oval wooden shield with elongated ends. The section is concave and the handle is cut from the solid. Decoration consists of sharp running chevrons which have been filled with white pipe clay. A plain strip 30 mm wide runs down the centre of the shield and faint traces of red ochre are visible on this.
