The Railway Clearing House was established in 1842 to ensure the proper allocation of revenue among railway companies when multiple firms are involved in carrying through traffic from other lines, and to develop common industry standards. This archive includes books of tables for calculating rates, scales of charges or rates for goods and minerals, carriages and chassis, parcel conveyance, government traffic by merchandise or passenger trains, coaching arrangements, customs requirements, ready reckoners, classification of goods, station management, handbooks of railway stations, and a publication from the Railway Clearing System Superannuation Corporation.
