Scope and content

A small collection of materials relating to motor racing. Items include small magazine publications, official yearbooks, programmes, course maps, scorecards, and assorted documents from motor races in Ireland.
Publications are from organisations including the Ulster Automobile Club, the Association of Old Vehicle Clubs in Northern Ireland, and the 500 Motor Racing Club of Ireland.
Races covered include the Gordon Bennett Cup, Leinster Trophy, Tourist Trophy Races at Ards and Dundrod, Circuit of Ireland Trial, Kirkistown Motor Racing Circuit, Croft Hill Climb, Craigantlet Hill Climb, Benson and Hedges Motor Vehicle Run, Harper Rally Prep, and the Coachwork Competition.
There is also a folder marked Sport Cars Treasure Hunts, which contains information for competitors on car novelty runs organised by the Purdysburn Hospital Ladies Committee, the Belfast Corporation Electricity Department, the Knock Motor Cycle Club and Bloomfield Collegiate School. These date from the 1940s/50s.
