Handwritten letters, record of service books, and demobilisation ration books, among other items, from Ulster soldiers involved in the Great War of 1914-1918.
Contents: A folder of handwritten letters from George Burns to his mother from France during World War One. Burns was a Rifleman in the 36th Ulster Division, No letters after July, with the start of the Somme. Contents: inscription on letters entitled ‘On Active Service with The British Expeditionary Force’ (1915-16); ‘On Active Service’ correspondence envelopes, all addressed to Mrs Burns (1916); a letter to Lillie during the Battle of the Somme concerning a missing soldier (1916); a note of allowed absence for Burns (1916); four field service postcards indicating Burns is well and has received parcels and letters from his mother (1916); a letter from Robert concerning George (1916); a letter to Joe Montgomery from Robert (1916).
