Neill Pierce was an amateur ship modeller, particularly interested in the circular coast monitors of the Imperial Russian Navy, from Newtownabbey, County Antrim. This archive contains much documentation on vessels, many of which were warships, and newspaper implements from the start of the First World War. Contents: a Harland and Wolff Ltd. technical description of the vessel S.S. Lampas with notes, a booklet of information (1976), photocopies of the ship drawings, sketches of parts, a large ship plan, John P. Holland informational booklets; handwritten correspondence from Colin Gross to Neil concerning museum material (1982); a typescript photocopied booklet on the Popovkas, a ship from 1873; two photographs of the ship model; correspondence from R.G. Todd of the National Maritime Museum, London, to Mr. Pierce concerning photographs (1982); quotes for photograph sizes and costs; a letter from Pierce to Leningrad, USSR concerning the vessels (1982); a letter to the London Maritime museum department of ships (1982); photocopies of ship drawings and dimensions of the Novgorod; a booklet about “The Popoff” (Aug. 1971); a sealed model shipwright journal; a labelled H.M.S.
