Francis Joseph Bigger (1863-1926) Qualified as a solicitor, Bigger was also a member of the Belfast Naturalists’ Field Club, the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland, the Royal Irish Academy and the Gaelic League. He revived the Ulster Journal of Archaeology and promoted the Irish language and culture. Interested in archaeology and the conservation of built heritage, he purchased Jordan's Castle at Ardglass. This archive contains newspaper articles for the Belfast Newsletter and Belfast Telegraph, letters including Dufferin and John Abernethy, sketches and stamp prints, photographs of people and paintings, receipts and books and articles by Bigger.
