- Dr. George Barton Thompson OBE (6 August 1925 - 2 August 2021) was appointed as the first Director of the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum. He retired in 1986 and was awarded two honorary degrees, Doctor of Science by Queen’s University, Belfast, and Doctor of Letters by Ulster University. The archive includes legislative act papers, journal articles, lectures, Ulster Folk Museum leaflets and maps, articles relating to UFTM, ephemera from American tours, work diaries, correspondence, commissioned reports about the UFTM and documentation of other organisations for example, Annaghmakerring.
