Scope and content
D.B. McNeill and Frank Green were brothers-in-law. McNeill lectured at University College, Southampton and acted as a non-executive director of the McNeill Group, a Belfast-based group in construction and supply. He published a number of books, including three transport handbooks published by the Ulster Museum and four books on local transport history. Green also taught at Southampton and was involved in the formation of the Institute of British Geographers and the Association of British Climatologists. He published many papers in various geographical disciplines. His collection of British bus timetables was considered by the Omnibus Society as possibly the largest private collection in existence and formed part of the donation made after his death in 1983. McNeill requested that his donation in 2003 be merged to create the McNeill-Green Collection. The donation consists of photographs, negatives, timetables, promotional leaflets, Bradshaw's Guides, route maps, postcards, catalogue index cards and books. It covers aviation, bus, maritime and railways, encompassing all of Ireland, Great Britain and foreign material.
