Lavinia Johnston donated papers from her father, who trained as a premium engineer pupil at Harland & Wolff (approximately 1916–1921) and later qualified as a Navel Architect. Contains: photographs of Richard Morton Lee; photos of various ships, including The City of London, Hildebrand, Milwaukee, Servia, Oak Branch, Britannia, Kilmallie, Austral, Barquentine Dunure, Clyde, Peter Redale; H&W rules for pupils; a handwritten book of drawings; background and CV information; a letter from the Royal Naval Depot; letters and testimonials; a certificate from the Municipal Technical Institute; and a signed copy of the Official Secrets Act. Two items, a large pencil drawing of the engine room of the ‘Columbella’ and a small watercolour painting of a dazzle ship, are stored at HOYFM.2015.947.1 and HOYFM.2015.947.2, Entry Form: 2345.
