The Cherry family of Harmer Bury, Welwyn, and Hertfordshire include Phoebe’s siblings Sylvia Marion (1896-1972), Ben Victor (1897-1940), Lydia (1901-1940) and John (b.1905). Phoebe married Major John Robert (Jock) Perceval-Maxwell (1896-1963) of Finnebrogue, Downpatrick in 1921. Colonel Robert David Perceval-Maxwell (1870 – 24 May 1932) was a British soldier and UUP politician. He was the only son of John Perceval-Maxwell, eldest son of Robert Perceval-Maxwell (1813–1905), of Finnebrogue House. In 1895, Colonel Robert David Perceval-Maxwell married Edith Grace Head. The majority of the letters to Phoebe are from her sister Sylvia/Sylvela who tends to write a letter once a week and who seems to be in South Africa for most of this time. Phoebe’s other sister Lydia also writes quite frequently.
