Works on Paper

Works on paper comprise the largest section of the Ulster Museum’s fine art collection. It includes a surprising variety of media such as an Alphonse Legros red chalk drawing, or collage pieces by F.E. McWilliam. There are watercolours, drawings and prints, dating from the 17th century to the present day.

Highlights of the collection include:

  • drawings by John Henry Fuseli, J.M.W. Turner, John Sell Cotman, and John Robert Cozens
  • watercolours by Andrew Nicholl, Kenneth Shoesmith, Richard Dunscombe Parker, and Mainie Jellet
  • prints by Lady Mabel Annesley, Gwen Raverat, Blair Stanton, and Paul Nash

This collection holds a wealth of artworks that explore the varying ways artists have approached paper over the past 500 years.
